Originally from Maryland, Ben Lurye relocated to Brooklyn, New York on March 1st, 2020 – which turned out to be a really, really interesting choice.
Ben’s DC area credits include Signature Theatre: A Little Night Music, Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson’s Diner (world premere), Sweeney Todd; Olney Theatre: My Fair Lady, Sweeney Todd, Mary Poppins, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Forever Plaid; Ford’s Theatre: Hello, Dolly!; Rep Stage: Songs for a New World, Sweeney Todd, The Fantasticks; 1st Stage: Floyd Collins, Parfumerie; Toby’s Dinner Theatre: Les Miserables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 1776, Ragtime; UrbanArias: Blue Viola (world premiere); The Kennedy Center, Adventure Theatre, and others. Ben has also appeared at Bristol Riverside Theatre: A Comedy of Tenors; Virginia Rep: Cinderella; Artistree Music Theatre Festival: Forever Plaid, and has appeared in concert with the Lawton Philharmonic, The American Pops, and the National Symphony Orchestras.
As Music Director, Ben’s work has been seen at Constellation Theatre: Caucasian Chalk Circle; Adventure Theatre: Make Way For Ducklings, Fantastagirl and the Math Monster (world premieres); We Happy Few: The Tempest, Capital Fringe Festival: The A Cappella Party (also composer), and numerous educational productions at Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, and DC-area high schools.
